Best Engagement Photo Spots in London, Ontario

If you're planning an engagement session in London, Ontario, the city has no shortage of quiet, photogenic corners — leafy parks, a historic bridge, and a river that runs straight through the middle of it all. Here are two of our favourite spots to start with, and what makes each one work.

Springbank Park

Springbank Park runs along the Thames River on the west side of the city, with wide lawns, mature trees and a network of paved paths that make it easy to move between a few different backdrops in one session. It's a reliable pick in almost any season.

  • Best time: about an hour before sunset, when the light comes in low through the trees
  • Best season: October for the fall colour along the river, or May for the blossoms
  • Good to know: larger group sessions may need a permit from the City of London — worth checking ahead if you're bringing more than a couple of people

Blackfriars Bridge

A short drive from downtown, Blackfriars Bridge is one of the oldest iron bridges still in daily use in Canada, and its dark ironwork against the sky makes for a very different mood than the parks — more urban, more graphic.

  • Best time: blue hour, just after sunset, when the bridge's lights come on
  • Best angle: shoot from the riverbank looking up through the trusses rather than standing on the bridge itself
  • Good to know: it's a working bridge with foot and car traffic, so a short session works better than a long one

The bridge only takes fifteen minutes, but it's often the photo people remember first.

Both of these are places we come back to again and again — if you'd like to see how a session at either one actually turns out, browse our full engagement gallery.
